Learning to Abide: Remaining Without Retreating
One Breath — Settling
Take one breath and notice you are still here.
You don’t need to withdraw to feel safe.
You are already held.
One Scripture — The Root
“Abide in me, and I in you.”
— John 15:4 (KJV)
One Thought — The Restoration
For many women, remaining has been confused with endurance.
They stayed in places that hurt, silenced themselves to keep peace, and learned to equate loyalty with self-abandonment. So when Scripture invites us to abide, it can feel unsafe, like staying means losing ourselves again.
But abiding in Christ is not endurance without care.
It is remaining without retreating from yourself.
Abiding does not ask you to ignore discomfort. It allows you to stay present without shutting down or running away. It is the ability to remain connected to God while honoring your own healing boundaries.
In this sense, abiding becomes the safest posture of all.
You are not clinging.
You are not withdrawing.
You are resting within connection.
As this series closes, the invitation is not to do anything more.
It is to live from what has already been restored.
Remain planted.
Trust what is holding you.
Let identity continue to heal.
Abide where you are nourished.
This is not the end of the journey.
It is the posture that carries you forward.
